Q) What is Our Bucknall?
Our Bucknall (formerly Bucknall Online) is a community-based and non-profit organisation based in Bucknall, Stoke-on-Trent, UK. It was started by Samuel Bateman under the name of Bucknall Online in 2018, before a full name change to Our Bucknall by 2022. You can find out full information regarding Our Bucknall on the About Us page.
Q) When was Our Bucknall started?
Our Bucknall was initially started on 17th October 2018 under the name of Bucknall Online as a result of the Red Lion Hotel demolition, which caused concern for the ever-changing area of Bucknall and a lack of preservation. The aim of Bucknall Online was to create a publicly-accessible and free-to-use historical archive of the area in an attempt to preserve Bucknall as we currently know it, whilst recovering the area’s historical past. This was the sole objective of Bucknall Online, until we created a Facebook page under the same name. It was at this point that we found ourselves posting content relating to Bucknall on a frequent basis. People had also started to message us with questions and queries that weren't in relation to the historical archive project. To avoid confusion with the Facebook page and the upcoming website, we decided to change the name of the Facebook page to Our Bucknall on 7th June 2021. You can find full information regarding the name change in a post here. It was initially set out that the Facebook page was to be operated by Bucknall Online. However, despite the name change of the Facebook page, the URL was still associated with Bucknall Online - which is the same as this website. As the website was created with the domain name relating to Bucknall Online, it made sense to rename entirely to Our Bucknall in order avoid mass confusion - being that both the names of Bucknall Online and Our Bucknall were being used. On 26th August 2022, the entire project (consisting of the website and historical archive), as well as the Facebook page (which was renamed in the previous year), was fully renamed to be known as Our Bucknall. You can find full information regarding the name change in a post here.
Q) Is Our Bucknall a charity?
Our Bucknall is not a charity, although we have stated that we intend to start operating as a non-profit organisation on Saturday 1st July 2023. This is to help in accruing funds for maintaining the website (such as the domain and any further costs), as well as to donate excess funds to local Bucknall-based projects. Our Bucknall is not owned by any holding company, and does not make any profit. The website is completely free to use, and will remain as such. We are happy to provide any information relating to how future donations and funds will be received, how they will be held and how they will be spent.
Q) Are you affiliated with a council or a councillor?
Our Bucknall is not affiliated with any council or councillor, and remains unaligned to any political party. Whilst we would be happy to work with a council or councillor regarding future work, such as a local project, we would remain neutral on all political grounds to avoid siding with a particular party or government.
Q) Where are photos, videos, media and extracts obtained from?

We reference all content that we obtain at the bottom of each page where such information is present and include the source(s) where content was obtained from.
